School/Program: I'm Surgery Resident in New York! 

Favorite Hobby: Working out. I need the mental break after work, (if I'm not too tired). I’ve gotten into Pilates more this year. I’m excited to try more classes here in New York 

What made you choose your profession? I knew surgery was for me when hours would fly by in the OR. Plus working with your hands is so much fun.  

Biggest Inspiration: My parents. They’re the most loving, hard-working people I know.

Current Passion Project: I still tutor medical students for STEP 1. I enjoy helping med students make their schedules and clear up concepts for them. It also keeps the basic science information fresh in my head, which is a bonus. 

Fun Fact: I used to be queasy around blood! Crazy, I know. I used to get all nervous/ feel faint. I made myself get over the fear when I started to fall in love with anatomy. Lots of blood draws later, now I'm a surgical resident and blood doesn’t phase me anymore!  

Do you have any advice for others interested in entering your field? Surgery residency is tough, but it’s not impossible. If you truly want it, you’ll get there.
