Why did you choose this profession?

The desire to put a smile on people’s faces made me choose health care, specifically Radiology. I always had deep empathy and understanding of those suffering in pain. Patients who come to the hospital are usually down and sad because of their illness. With this understanding, I welcome my patients with a smile and compassion. I listen to their needs and do my best to put a smile on their face, regardless of their attitude. I love what I do!

How do you handle your job while making sure you take good care of your family?

Working in health care is not easy. On a day-to-day basis, we see the unthinkable and hear the unimaginable. What makes me push forward and come to work with a positive smile is the willingness to build a better future for my two daughters. They inspire me every day to be happy and strive for newer heights. I do my best to be a great role model for them, someone who can handle work and maintain healthy family relationships. Trust me, it doesn't come easy, but what matters at the end of the day is that I gave my best. Being on my feet all day doesn't stop me from playing with them, cooking, cleaning, and making sure they go to bed happy. Let's all remember that happiness is a choice, not a destination.

Hobby: Meditation/Kundalini yoga - I’m a huge fan of morning meditation. Regardless of the fact that I have a full-time job, family, kids, and everyday errands to run, I make sure to wake up at 5:00 am to do my morning meditation and affirmations. This sets a completely different attitude and inspiration for the day ahead.

Fun Fact: I’m a professional makeup artist.

What feature do you want from scrub brands?

In my 15 years of being in the medical field, I have tried and worn many different brands. First priority for me is comfort, and secondly the fit. I love scrubs that hug your body and are super soft.

Advice for others interested in entering your field?

The Radiology field is broad and very interesting. There are multiple options or directions one can choose once they get their ARRT license. Under the Radiology license, one can train and get their CT scan, MRI, Mammography licenses as well. Imaging plays an important role in the diagnosis, treatment, and postoperative care of children and adults.

“Understanding replaces forgiveness in the mind of a master” - Naele Donald Walsch" This quote is deep and may be hard to accept for a lot of people. It inspired me to look at people and their behaviors through a different lens. If we stop judging and be more forgiving, the world would be a beautiful place to live and thrive.
