What made you choose your profession? Becoming an osteopathic physician will allow me to Integrate the philosophy of practicing patient-centered care and considering multiple facets of an individual to partner with them to achieve good health and wellness.

Biggest Inspiration: My parents were refugees in the Vietnam War and escaped to America to build a better life for themselves and their families.

Current Passion Project: I am currently learning how to play the piano :D

Fun Fact: I could eat Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches every single day.

What sort of challenges have you faced in your life? How have you overcome them? The biggest challenge I have faced and still learning to overcome is imposter syndrome and the feeling that I am do not belong in my current position. The best way for me to combat imposter syndrome is practicing mindfulness, gratitude, and trying not to compare myself to others.

Do you have any advice for others interested in entering your field? Although the path to medical school is long and arduous, you do not have to do it alone. Find a close-knit group of friends and/or close community of individuals that will support you through the ups and downs and help you overcome adversity. Never be afraid to reach out for help and find a mentor!

Any other piece of advice, motivational quote, or message you would like to share? A couple of my favorites quotes are: “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.”  Steve Jobs and “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” -Mahatma Gandhi.

I firmly believe that if you make it your life mission to serve others through whatever medium you decide to pursue, no matter where life takes you, you will find your purpose.
